The Superintendence of Occupational Risks decided to stop renting out office space and remodel an old art-deco building of their own. This was done in compliance with modern safety, accessibility and sustainability standards. The project conserves the original basement, ground floor and two upper floors that were transformed into administrative offices for this national government organization. In addition, six new floors were built that match the height of neighboring buildings. To achieve this objective, structural reinforcements were used to increase the weight bearing capacity of the existing columns. The project also includes the reparation of the old Art Deco façade and the replacement of obsolete installations with state-of-the-art plumbing, electrical and thermo-mechanical systems. Modern access floors were used on the new levels to make them easily adaptable to the needs of users. Green spaces were included on all floors to reinforce the building’s sustainability.
