As part of the construction of the most iconic skyscraper in Buenos Aires, the sky garden at Repsol’s headquarters in Puerto Madero deserves special mention. This six story high park was painstakingly inserted into Repsol’s 110m tall office tower and provides a large beautiful window on the city. Inside stand five full-sized Jacarandá trees which had to be specially lifted and placed into enormous stainless steel pots after delicate detachment of the building’s curtain wall facade. Its slender, 24 meter high columns were designed to be attack-resistant so that one could fall without damaging the rest of the structure.
