Buenos Aires public housing projects #1 and #3 occupy six city blocks in the underpriviledged Rodrigo Bueno neighborhood of Buenos Aires and entail the construction of 455 low income housing units and 45 retail stores as well as work on surrounding areas. Each building has residential units on the ground floor which provide easy access for handicapped people as well as shops and educational spaces for courses and workshops. Traditional construction techniques were used which include the use of an independent reinforced concrete structure with brick wall enclosures. The façades feature double walls and exposed brick exteriors which require little maintainance and allow for adequate thermal and acoustic insulation. All roofs have solar panels to heat water and reduce energy consumption.
