Description
Pabellón B house all equipment necessary for gymnastics competitions as well as gymnastics training and warm-up exercises. Due to the need for fixed stands, part of the proyect was built underground in order to guarantee optimal spectator access and visual continuity between the ground floor and the surrounding area. The structure feature reinforced concrete underpinnings where necessary while the central nave and platform support use metallic full stem beams and standard profiles. Perimeter enclosures on the access level consists of wooden panels and seamless laminated glass while upper level enclosures utilize a system of seamless polyurethane sandwich panels with injected cores and a form of sheet metal finishing yet to be determined. The roof was made of sheet metal thermal panels filled with mineral rock wool. Given its size and equipment, it has the capacity to host various sporting events such as basketball, handball, indoor soccer and volleyball matches.
